Himalayan Seva Expedition and Trek donates 30% of our year end profits to established charities that serve the Nepali people. Nepal is a desperately poor country, and its people have the minimum necessities for survival at best and none at worst. The children of Nepal are often the forgotten ones in their own country; orphans and street children are over 12,000 in number and typically receive the least from governmental assistance. It is our intention to reduce this number significantly by doing all that we can to provide care for them, the future leaders of this country and contributors to the world.
One of the organizations that receives funding from our trek proceeds is Himalayan Children’s Charities. This U.S.-based organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit which uses 100% of monies donated to support the orphaned and homeless children of Nepal. Its initiatives include: placing orphans in boarding school, where they receive room and board, education, and basic healthcare; providing education to children from poor families in villages outside Kathmandu; placing sponsored students in group homes after the 10th grade; sending sponsored students to college; and providing life skills that are necessary as they grow older. For more information about Himalayan Children’s Charities, the children who have been sponsored, and those who still desperately need sponsors, please visit their website.
