Travel Insurance & Emergency Rescue |
|
Himalayan Seva Expedition and Trek guides, porters, and support staff do their utmost to ensure everyone’s safety on our treks. Still, stuff happens, including illness and injuries; thus we recommend that you have a travel insurance policy in place for your trip to Nepal. Most policies cover the basics: trip cancellation, injury, death, lost baggage, theft, liability, and medical treatment and expenses. Be sure that your policy also includes items related to the activities you have planned for your trip, such as trekking, as well as medevac or helicopter evacuation. In the event that you need to file a claim, be sure that your policy “mountaineering” or “alpinism” as covered inclusions (even though these are not included in our treks) to increase the likelihood of a claim payout without additional duress.
While Himalayan Seva Expedition and Trek has never had an instance that required emergency air transport, we still recommend that you also select the “Emergency Helicopter Rescue” option on your booking form as a precautionary measure. As the saying goes, “It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.” Choosing this option grants us your permission to secure emergency air transport for you in the event that you cannot continue trekking or traveling due to illness or injury.
As with all organizers of Nepal treks, Himalayan Seva Expedition and Trek has an agreement to guarantee payment to helicopter evacuation companies in Nepal for their services. In order to do this, you must provide proof of your ability to reimburse the fee (US $2500-$5000 depending on your location) when selecting the “Emergency Helicopter Rescue” option. For additional information about this, please contact one of our support specialists.
