As noted by its name, this trek circles you around the entire Annapurna area. You start in Kathmandu and then travel by car to Besishahar, where you begin your trek, which follows the Marsyangdi River through Hindu villages that lie in the shadow of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges.
The scenery gains a rugged alpine appearance from the greenery of the lower altitudes as you ascend. Bearing west behind the Annapurnas, you enter a region populated by people of Tibetan origin and representative of their thriving Buddhist culture. Views of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, and Gangapurna emerge and come into full view as you ascend to Manang.
After resting for a day, you undertake the challenging crossing of the Thorong La, whch links the Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki Valleys. At the top of the pass you have majestic mountain views before descending to the temples at Muktinath. Further descent brings you between the peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri into the valley at Jomsom and the world’s deepest gorge. From Jomsom you fly to Pokhara for one night’s stay before returning to Kathmandu.
