For many trekkers, reaching Everest Base Camp is the objective of a lifetime. This trek takes you to the base camp and to Kala Patar, which is known as the best spot to visually experience the enormity of Mount Everest.
After your initial stay in Kathmandu, you fly to Lukla – the gateway to the Everest region – and trek a forested trail north to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. The Thyangboche Monastery, which lies in the shadow of the Everest massif and Ama Dablam, is one of the main attractions on this trek. The alpine scenery becomes more rugged as you ascend to Dingboche in the Imja valley.
From there you trek steadily higher, following glacial moraines to Lobuje and then to the lodge at Gorak Shep. Then you ascend to the summit of Kala Patar for extraordinary views of Everest and a breathtaking panorama of the world's highest mountains. You then trek to Everest Base Camp before returning to Lobuje and completing your trek back in Kathmandu.
